TV One presents Believe: The Barack Obama Story, the documentary that chronicles the rise of one of the greatest leaders ever. From his childhood roots in Hawaii to his graduate student days at Harvard Law School; through his early years in the rough and tumble world of Chicago politics to his hard fought campaign for the presidency of the United States, TV One gives you exclusive interviews from those who know Obama best.
The journey begins with Barack Obama’s upbringing in Hawaii, where he gained his now famous “Aloha spirit of cool”. Known back then as “Barry”, Barack’s high school teachers and classmates reflect on his confidence and character, as a biracial kid growing up in ethnically diverse Hawaii. His basketball coach remembers his passion for the game and his teammates reflect on Barack’s ability to “bring it” on the court.
This revealing and insightful special features interviews and commentary by Rep. Neil Abercrombie, (D) Hawaii; Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League; Rep. Artur Davis, (D) Alabama; actor Hill Harper; and Rev. Jesse Jackson. Additionally, Rev. Alvin Love, one of President-elect Obama’s former pastors in Chicago, recalls Barack’s early years as a community organizer on the south side of Chicago.
